Question 1

Can you read my chats?

Accepted Answer

No. We don't read your chats. Your conversations are encrypted at rest with a per-user key, and access is limited to the authenticated request path and a few audited, automated steps such as moderation and titling. Our staff see account metadata, never your chat content, and your chats are never used to train any model.

Question 2

Does Ask Tone remember my other conversations?

Accepted Answer

Only while memory across chats is switched on. New accounts start with it off; Settings → Memory shows whether it is on for yours and switches it either way. With it on, Tone quietly notes durable facts from your conversations, such as a preference for short answers or the stack you work in, and uses them in later chats, including new ones. That same screen shows you everything it has noted, and lets you edit it, pause it, delete single entries, or clear the lot. With it off, each conversation stands on its own.

Question 3

What is Ask Tone?

Accepted Answer

Ask Tone sends one question to several AI models at once and returns their answers side-by-side, or synthesized into a single best answer that leads with where the models agree and names where they diverge. It is your AI board of advisors in one place.

Question 4

Which models can I use?

Accepted Answer

You pick a board of up to four models, depending on your plan. The choice includes frontier models like Claude, GPT, and Gemini, plus several capable standard and budget options. The image workspace has its own lineup of picture models. The available models are managed at runtime, so the lineup can change over time.

Question 5

How does pricing work?

Accepted Answer

Access is paid, and your usage is shown as a share of your monthly allowance. Each request uses an amount that depends on the mode and the models you choose. Images draw on that same allowance, with no separate quota. Your monthly usage resets each billing period, and any top-ups you buy never expire. We never show token counts.

Question 6

Is there a free trial?

Accepted Answer

Yes. New accounts can try Ask Tone free for 14 days, with no card required. The trial includes a set of fast models, the Standard Council and enough usage to see how a multi-model board works; the frontier models and the Premium Council are part of the paid plans. There is still no permanent free tier. Every plan is paid, which is how the product stays ad-free and independent.

Question 7

Can Ask Tone read answers out loud?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every answer has a speaker button beside Copy. It reads the merged answer on a Synthesis turn and the Chairman's verdict on a Council one, using the text-to-speech built into your own device, so the answer is never sent anywhere to be spoken and it costs nothing. You can choose the voice and speed in Settings → Preferences; that choice stays on the device you make it on, because voices differ from device to device.

Question 8

What is Council mode?

Accepted Answer

Council comes in two kinds. In both, five specialist voices each weigh in from a different angle, then a Chairman reconciles them into a decision-ready answer that says what to do first, what to do next, and what to defer. The Standard Council is on every plan, the free trial included, and uses fast, efficient models. The Premium Council, on Pro, Team and Executive, uses the leading models and lets you choose who plays each role.

Question 9

Can I generate images?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The image workspace takes one prompt and gives it to one model, or to two side by side so you can compare the same idea. The lineup spans OpenAI, Google, xAI, Qwen, Microsoft, ByteDance and Black Forest Labs, and like the chat models it is managed at runtime, so it changes over time. You can pick an aspect ratio, and every image can be downloaded as PNG, JPG or WebP whatever the model returned. Images draw on the same monthly usage as chat, so there is no separate quota to keep track of. What a picture costs depends on the model, and the composer shows you the share before you send. You can also change a picture you have made: choose Edit under it and describe the change, and a model that can edit pictures makes a new version.

Question 10

Is there a Code workspace?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Code workspace applies the same multi-model approach to code, with a specialist Code Council and an in-browser sandbox to run Python or JavaScript snippets. You can upload source files for context.

Question 11

Can I upload files, and how much can I store?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In chat and in the Code workspace you can attach text and code files, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents (and their OpenDocument equivalents), PDFs, and images (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF or AVIF). A text file can be up to 1 MB, and a document, PDF or image up to 25 MB, of which we read up to 1 MB of text. Each conversation holds up to 10 files and 4 MB of text, and one message carries up to 4 images. A long file is read in the parts most relevant to your question. Images are checked for safety before we keep them, and go only to the models on your board that can see images, as a copy without the photo's location and camera details. What we keep for your own download is a cleaned copy at full size: the picture alone, without those details, an animation as its first frame, and sometimes in another format. Pictures inside a document are checked too, and a document with a picture that is flagged or cannot be checked, or with a file attached inside it, is kept as its text. An iPhone photo in HEIC format needs exporting as JPEG first. A file is encrypted with a key unique to your account the moment it reaches us, and stays encrypted while we keep it. Your uploads and the images you generate share your plan's storage: 10 GB on Starter, 20 GB on Pro, 50 GB on Executive and 20 GB per member on Team (100 MB during a free trial). It is one total for you, whichever workspace a file is in, and the limit is the one of the workspace you are using: in a team, the team's. Everything you store is listed in your Collection, where you can download it or delete it, one item at a time or several at once. When you delete a conversation, its files and images leave your Collection at once and are deleted with it after 30 days; restoring it before then brings them back.

Question 12

Can I use Ask Tone with a team?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A Team workspace gives your members a shared space and a pooled usage budget, billed per seat. A Team workspace is a separate purchase from a personal plan, and the two usage pools never mix.

Question 13

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

There is no commitment. You can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Top-up purchases are non-refundable. You are charged for completed work only, and any model that fails during a request is refunded automatically. UK and EU consumers also have a statutory 14-day cancellation right, set out in the Refunds Policy.
